Scooters are amazing things. Not only can they transport you, and a friend, but they allow us to do a lot of the weekly tasks that have to be handled.
One of those tasks at our house is the mid-week shopping pick up. This week our household had a reasonable list of odds and sods to get from Aldi, so I loaded up Sues Vespa Primavera 150 with a pair of Corazzo Pannier Bags, and with my shopping list on the back of an envelope off I went.
When I looked at the list I decided it might just fit everything in the pannier bags and I wouldn’t have to use the under saddle storage or the top box at all, so I took my Pannier Bags into Aldi with me and set to work.
Half way round the shops it became apparent there was a fair bit of stuff I’d collected. By the time I was at the checkout, my basket was overflowing.
The lady took my $74 and I loaded the Pannier Bags successfully. It was quite heavy as I had pasta sauce, 2 litres of milk etc, so I avoided a trolley and slung the bags over my shoulder and walked back to my scooter. From there, it’s a simple matter of opening the saddle and straddling the bags on either side, then closing the saddle again. Â
The Corazzo Pannier Bags are a great addition for most riders, as they come in a pair and are joined by a two strong velcro straps and simply fold up and go in your under saddle storage when not in use. I’ve had this pair for three years now and they get plenty of use.
Once I was all loaded up and ready to ride, I realised I needed bread, so I popped over to Bakers Delight and snuck a loaf of bread into the last of the remaining space in one pannier.
Take a look at the pictures of the panniers and what I fitted in on this shopping trip. Remember I only used the pannier bags and not the top box or under saddle storage, so I could have bought much more shopping if I needed too.
One final tip. If you buy a cooked chicken put it under the saddle which is often warmer from the engine heat and if you’re buying ice cream put it in the top box or pannier bag away from engine heat.
