Almost all modern scooters feature a CVT or centrifugal clutch (Automatic). A major drive force inside this clever type of clutch is the roller weights that move inside the roller cage which directly determine how quickly the gear ratio moves from slow to fast during acceleration. Changing the roller weights is one way to tune your scooter to how you like to ride, increasing acceleration, or top speed as required!
Knowing what brand to choose when modding your scoot can always be a challenge. When it comes to high performance, reliability and longevity, Scooter Central have done years of testing and research and found that Malossi parts live up to the test of time and are wicked fun. Â
By changing your CVT stock rollers to a lighter weight, you can increase acceleration off the mark, and by adding weight, you can increase top speed.
If you are looking to increase both acceleration and top end speed right throughout the power band, we recommend fitting a Scooter Central Stage II Performance Kit and telling us exactly how you ride so that we can personalise the upgrade to you and get the most out of your scooter.
Fun Fact: Normally Roller weights are round, some of the most controversial performance rollers are actually shaped like a tear drop to enable a slide element for even more acceleration! Keep in mind these are only for racing and wear out very quickly.
